Still looking around to see what is within 100 miles of our house (click on the image to see the large view). Yesterday I found (through the CFSA Blog) there is a rice plantation 89 miles away! I was dumbfounded!
Despite the number of milk cows in North Carolina, finding a dairy that uses sustainable practices within 100 miles has proven difficult. Homeland Creamery is actually within the 100 mile radius (though driving it is closer to 109 miles) and it’s owned by the family of one of my co-workers. See, the community is already getting a little bit smaller.
